Pheasant Hunting and Photography Business

My friend Steve invited me to go pheasant hunting. I'm game for trying new things that are outside of my usual comfort zone and growing up, my barber (Barber Russ) always use to talk about pheasant hunting while he cut my hair so I thought it would give me a better frame of reference to understand what he was talking about all those years. Of course I prepared with a one page tip sheet I found out of a borrowed Field and Stream magazine. How hard could hunting this little bird be?

Well, pheasants, it turns out, are pretty sneaky birds. You would think a dog and 6 guys with shotguns would be able to easily bag a few birds, but let me tell you, they are fast and good at hiding. I doesn't help that I am not the greatest shooter. It took the good part of a morning to hunt down three pheasants-and that's after knowing that they were put out in the brush.

Running a photography business sometimes feels like pheasant hunting where goals and ambitions are hiding or too fast or missed because of a bad shot. There is a lot of brush to walk through and high grass that slows the business down.

But stopping and giving up surely isn't going to yield any results. And when there is meat to put on the table, well, it is a good reminder the hunt is worth it.
